Forecast management also includes an option to compare different versions of a forecast. This feature allows planners to analyze variations between multiple forecast runs, helping them assess changes in demand patterns, evaluate different forecasting methods, and refine their predictions for better accuracy.
The "Compare Versions" button will remain disabled until the planner selects forecast scenario jobs to compare the results. The button will be enabled once the required scenarios are selected, allowing a detailed comparison of forecast versions.
Check the illustration below to enable the compare versions button.
A detailed comparison page will be displayed after clicking the "Compare Versions" button. This page will show the selected forecast versions, allowing planners to analyze differences in forecasted values, error metrics, and trends.
In the Compare Versions screen, planners can analyze forecast results in the multi-item view and validate the error metrics for the selected forecast scenarios. This enables a detailed comparison of different forecast versions, helping planners assess accuracy and make informed decisions.
Planners can use the select item dropdown to see the results of the other items.
Multi-item view: By enabling the multi-item view toggle, the planner can see the results of the selected items for different or the same input measures.
Once enabled, the table will show details in the multi-item view. Click on the expand button to see the values of the two forecast jobs.
Alternatively, planners can expand the required column to view detailed information like the one below.
Error metrics: Planners can also compare forecasted results by enabling the error metrics toggle.
Once the error metrics toggle is enabled, all the error metrics details will be displayed in the table. Planners can select different items from the dropdown to compare their forecast performance.
After reviewing and comparing the results, planners can finalize and publish the preferred forecast by clicking the "Publish Forecast" button.
Clicking on the "Publish Forecast" button will open a dropdown displaying the selected forecast names. This allows planners to choose which forecast version they want to publish.
Planners can select the required forecast job from the dropdown to publish the forecast results to downstream measures.
After clicking on the required forecast in the publish forecast dropdown, a confirmation popup will appear. Clicking "Yes" will publish the forecast results to the downstream time series, while clicking "No" will terminate the action.
The published forecast will appear on the forecast landing screen with the "Not started." Click the refresh button to update and view the latest status of the published forecast job. This action will publish the forecast results for the downstream time series.
