Proposed Orders : Getting oriented layout and navigation

This guide provides a detailed explanation of how to use every control and behavior in the new Proposed Orders screen. 


When you open the Proposed Orders screen, you land on the Order View. The page is divided into three functional zones:



TABLE OF CONTENTS


Header toolbar (top of the page)

This bar contains the Attribute Filters for Product, Location, and Source. These filters define which orders appear on the page. The “Clear filter” control appears when a filter is active, allowing you to reset it. Changes take effect immediately, and the list below refreshes to match your selections.




Summary strip

This strip displays compact tiles summarizing your current result set. Each tile shows a total count for a specific metric. All counts automatically refresh when you change attribute filters. Tiles include:

  1. Order Count by Type
    • This tile displays the number of order lines for each order line type.
    • Order line types include Production Orders, Purchase Orders, and Stock Transfer Orders.
    • Level of aggregation: Order type is at the order header level; therefore, these counts reflect orders, not individual lines.
  2. Order Count by Status
    • This tile displays the number of orders in each status, such as Draft, Approved, or Published.
    • Level of aggregation: Status is tracked at the order header level; therefore, these counts reflect orders, not individual lines.
  3. Order Count by Need-By Date / Order Date
    • This tile breaks down order lines by their Need-By Date or Order Date buckets.
    • Level of aggregation: Because each order line can have its own Need-By Date and Order Date, these counts are at the order line level.
  4. Buckets:
    • Buckets are displayed on a weekly basis, using the start date of the week (e.g., “02/Jan,” “09/Jan,” “16/Jan”)



Results table (main body)


By default, you see one row per order line. Columns include standard order line data plus the standard KPIs:

Each column header supports inline sorting. Click once for ascending order. Click again for descending order. Some columns also support inline filtering. A small funnel icon reveals the available operators and value inputs. Sorting and filtering are performed server-side. They are applied on top of the Attribute Filters.


Working in the default Order Line View


The Order Line View is designed to allow planners to work directly on individual order lines without needing to navigate away from the grid.



Key features of the Proposed Orders table

  1. Inline Editing
    • You can edit a cell directly by double-clicking an editable cell (such as SOQ or Need-By Date).
    • How to save: After making necessary changes, click on the save button.
    • Where it works: Inline editing is supported in both the Order Line View and the Order Header View (inside expanded groups).
  2. SOQ Editing and Dynamic Totals
    • When you change SOQ, the Total Order Cost (Line amount) recalculates instantly using the Unit Cost of the Product for that line.
    • You can override the Line amount manually if needed.
  3. Visual indicators for Edits
    • Whenever you edit a cell in the table — especially in SOQ or Need-By Date — the application places a visual indicator on that cell.
    • The cell is highlighted with a light orange background.
  4. Pending state:
    • These indicators remain visible until the user explicitly saves or undoes the changes.
    • This makes it easy to identify all pending edits at a glance before committing them.
  5. Undo at row level:
    • You can undo changes at the row level.
    • An Undo icon appears in the Actions column for any row that has a pending save.
    • Clicking Undo reverts only that row to its original values before editing (affecting both SOQ and Need-By Date simultaneously).




Multi-Line Edit

  • If you need to edit multiple lines at once, first select multiple lines using the checkboxes.
  • Choose Edit in the action bar.
  • The multi-edit dialog displays only the fields that support bulk updates (e.g., SOQ).
  • Enter a fixed value, apply an increment/decrement, or set a rule (e.g., “round to case pack”).
  • A preview shows how many lines will change. Confirm to apply; the table updates and recalculated totals appear immediately.


Approving Orders in Bulk

  • You can select one or more orders and click the Approve button.
  • Once approved, the status of orders changes from “Draft” to “Approved”. Read more


Grouping by Order Header (Order ID)


Switch to header grouping by toggling Group by → Order Header in the toolbar. The table collapses into one row per Order ID.

  • Expanding a header: Click the plus at the start of a header row to reveal its order lines inline. Expanded rows inherit table features, allowing you to sort, filter within the expanded section, edit eligible cells, and select lines for bulk actions without leaving the grouped view.
  • Approve at header level: Use the Approve Order action on a header row to approve all of its lines in one action.

You can switch back to the flat order-line view at any time; filters, sorts, and selections persist unless cleared.


Viewing More Details from a Cell

  • SOQ breakdown: Click on an SOQ/Order Quantity cell to open a breakdown panel showing how the quantity was computed — including total demand, total supply, net requirement, and policy adjustments (such as Min Order Quantity adjustments, Buying Multiples adjustments, etc.).
  • Product details: Click on a Product ID to open a right-side panel showing Product Sourcing Network (PSN), Product–Location details, and Product Master Data.
  • Supplier details: Click on a Supplier ID to open a right-side panel showing sourcing network data for that supplier.
  • Configurable right panel: You can configure which attributes should appear in the right-side panel when clicking on the Product ID or Supplier ID.
